Maybe this isn't news to you, but it was to me...
These days, you don't have to be in range to listen to just about any radio station out there, either by going to the station's website, or by streaming the station on an app. I have been using the free version of an app called Tune In.
Anyway, as I've stated elsewhere on this website, I spent three years driving all over the continental United States, and one of the things I found, was the best radio stations across the country.
The stations I looked for were non-commercial, and played either a very broad mix of music, or a brand of music indigenous to the area where the station was located.
I found many, very good radio stations, but I think my favorite is WMOT in Nashville/Murfreesborough, TN. I use it a lot, and have found many of my
"YouTube favorites" through listening to it.
If I win the Mega Millions, or otherwise end up in a position to give money to organizations, I'll make a big juicy donation to WMOT, not only because of what music they play, but I really like where they are coming from in terms of how they treat music and musicians, seeking to go to the "roots" of the former, and recognizing the latter as a community.
I believe music is the most important art form we have, because it is the most universal among people, and it can be argued that it exists in nature on its own too.
So I recommend checking out WMOT (89.5 FM in Nashville) and if you can, supporting it financially, because it, and many other stations I've found doing the good work for their communities are dependent on donations.
